The Longest Day

The war movie I chose was The Longest Day about D-Day and the Normandy landings on 6 June 1944, during World War II. The stories of multiple soliders throughout the invasion are told, from Allie paratroopers  parachuting into Ste. Mere Englise, covert American missions, to the stories of Axis soliders defending their homelands. This film tries to portray the true story of the historic start of US involvement in the fight in Europe against the Axis powers. The goals of this film was to show the stories from both sides of the war and how each were effected by this warefare. When you relate this movie to Slaughterhouse-Five you can see that it is very much a glorified version of war. Mary O'Hare would not like this movie because it roles big hollywood stars like John Wan and Henry Fonda. SShe would see that this film portrays these boys as old, war heros that never feel pain, which is the complete opposite of how warefare actually is.
